Empowering children to know their rights and responsibilities

February 22, 2017 admin

At Stahili we believe that all children should know about their rights and responsibilities and have opportunities to reflect on what rights mean for them, and for others.

In collaboration with educators from the International School of The Hague (ISH) and in Kenya, Stahili has developed a series of workshops to help students explore the rights that all children should enjoy, as well as their responsibilities.

Since developing the programme, Stahili has delivered the workshops to some 400 students in the Netherlands and Kenya, with new workshops to commence in the Democratic Republic of Congo this year.

Speaking of the programme, ISH teacher Margarita Vallduriola stated that “the [Stahili] workshops give a powerful message that rights are important for everyone and we need to develop empathy with those whose rights are not respected”.
